Christmas '72 I found a set of keys on the tree. They fit a new Kawasaki G5 100 hidden in the garage. It was a gift from my father... and against my mother's wishes I might add. This motorcycle was a two-stroke and built for both dirt and street riding. It was the bike I really learned to street ride on, and the one I got in trouble with the police for riding without a license. I eventually used it to get my driver's license. Great fun for doing wheelies on!

Some of my best childhood memories was of riding this motorcycle. My father would help me load the bike in the back of his truck and he would drive me out in the mountains or to a friend's farm to go riding. Most of my friends had motorcycles and we would play hide-and-go-seek or bike-tag all day long and into the night. I particularly remember one unusually warm day in late November 1977, with my friend, Darrell, on the back seat, we traveled a path up Jack's mountain and down the other side along the power line. It was late when we got back and I believe both of our parents were worried about us.

This was not only my second motorcycle but my father's as well. He really bought this bike for the two of us, since he drove it practically as much as I did. Later on, when I was on my third bike, he had a rack built for carrying the 100 on the front of his truck when he and my mother went on vacation.

The above picture was taken in the Spring of 1977. I was taking one of my highschool girlfriend's out for a lunch picnic on top of Jack's Mountain.
