All new photo windows have description and keywords meta tags. I consider this useless since search engines would never read these pages, but some page validating services want to see these meta tags and since they add very little to the overall page size, I decided to add them.

Hard spaces were added to the bottom menu ("Contact Webmaster", Privacy Policy", etc.) so that the menu will break properly when a page is sized smaller than 800 by 600 screen resolution.

A couple of new "Then & Now" photos on the Route: Belleville page, shows what the Belleville Flour Mill and Penn Reed Milk Co. looks like today.

Scrolling image captions on the Route: Belleville page are flush right for easier reading.

On the bottom of the Main page "Pronouncing Kishacoquillas," the Join KVRR Mailing List and the bottom menu are grouped and centered.

Minor spacing issues resolved on all timetables.

All prices were removed from The Ol' Hook & Eye Book section and book source links were added.

Descriptive alt attributes were added to the button graphics on How to Use page.

I decided to replace the flag graphics in the top menu with something a little more train oriented. The new running gear and wheel graphics were made from the photo of well-proportioned engine No.6.

The Roll Call of Officers data table and all Timetables on History / Afternoon Train Replaced by "Studemotive", Route / Kishacoquillas Valley Railroad and Route / Mifflin & Centre County Railroad pages were redone to be more accessible. Tables are now more legible in linearized format and have headers and scope attributes. Links were added to skip over timetables.

Patriotic graphics were changed in the top menu to look less militant and now have blank alt attributes.

Added metric conversions in parentheses to all US measurements on site. (Whew!)

"Skip Intro" on Introduction page now has a "roll-over."

Railroad timetables have been completely redone on History / Afternoon Train Replaced by "Studemotive", Route / Kishacoquillas Valley Railroad and Route / Mifflin & Centre County Railroad pages. Instead of using <pre> tags the timetables are in <table>s, making them look more like the original, more legible and accessible.

If a photo has a magnify option (example: "Bird's-Eye View of Reedsville" at Route / Reedsville page), mousing over the magnifying glass will now highlight the area to be magnified.

More accessibility issues were resolved. All JavaScript onmouseover and onmouseout events have been paired with onfocus and onblur events respectively. Hidden links will display when using the "tab" key to navigate the site.

Entire site was gone over and made more accessible. All layout <table>s now have summery attributes. JavaScript onfocus functions were removed. Decorative images were given null attributes. Access keys were added throughout site. A new Accessibility Statement page has been added.

The revision link in the bottom menu now points to the relevant month anchor within the What's New page.

All numerical dates now follow the ISO 8601 standard format year-month-day. See the How to Use page for details.

Most abbreviations have been labeled with the <acronym> tag. "Abreviations" section was added to the How to Use page.

Copyright notice added to the Introduction page.

The order of labels within the META(PICS) tag were changed so that the ICRA label tester will no longer time out.

All awards listed on the Awards Received page have been updated. The Award Sites! rating of the AP's are not current, but at the time the award was issued.

An extra slash in the PHP header code was causing problems in some browsers with the "Skip Introduction during my next visit" function on the Introduction page. It has been removed.

As long as this site has been up, I never did mention where "Kishacoquillas" came from! If you haven't already guessed (yes, it's American Indian), the first paragraph on The First KV Charter page now explains where the word originated.

The origin of the KV's second flatcar was discovered and added to the Rolling Stock Roster page.

The disclaimer on the Copyright page was slightly revised.

All photos have a little more breathing room with the addition of a 10 pixel margin.

The coding has been revised so that SafeSurf, Safe for Kids, ICRA and RSAC not only recognizes www.kvrr.net, but kvrr.net as being safe for the whole family.

The "Skip Introduction during my next visit" function on the Introduction page now works in Firefox.

Note for Opera users added to the How to Use page.

I got the Flash movie on the Introduction page to stream again. In IE the movie used to have to load first before it could play. I found a fix so that the movie will begin to play in just two to four seconds.

The site is now rated with SafeSurf. It is also labeled Safe for Kids for any visitors using this outdated system. Revised ICRA code has been added.

A "Family Friendly" section was added to the How to Use page.

The code for joining the KVRR Mailing List on the Home page was completely rewritten using PHP.

Minor changes were made to the Copyright pages to reflect the above change.

"So long and thanks for all the fish!" Due to the few hits received from webrings and the lack of upkeep in some, all webrings have been removed and their owners notified.

The Tips page and Search Results page from Search & Sitemap now validate to W3C XHTML specifications.

The Search Results page from Search & Sitemap was redone and is looking much better than it did two days ago.

I was having problems with screen shifting under the Firefox browser. In order for the "Top of Page" links to work in this browser, I had to add padding to an <A> link tag. This was causing problems by randomly shifting some long pages down 20 pixels. I found that link tags didn't like to be empty. After adding a 1 pixel <DIV> and image, the problem has disappeared.

Minor color change fix on the top (Year) menu of all of the What's New pages.

I was having problems with the old Perl Contact page recognizing PHP, so I rewrote the page using all PHP code.

Welcome to the newly revised Hook & Eye Website!

It may look the same on the outside, but it has been completely overhauled internally. The site is now coded in PHP and CSS for ease of maintenance and validates under XHTML for compliance with new and future browsers. The site is also more accessible, since the pages are no longer in a FRAMESET and do not rely on JavaScript.

The Ol' Hook & Eye has a new host and moved to a new server. A few minor changes were made to a cgi script, but other than that, everything seems to be OK. If you come across anything that isn't working please let me know.

It looks as if I don't need to go out and find awards for the Ol' Hook & Eye, they come to me! Out of the blue I received "Wappen-Award Best of the Web."
